The suffering of children is one of the questions for which we do not have answers, but we must believe. However, Rabbi Arush gives some very good answers and explanations to this question in Chapter 1 of The Garden of Emuna, which I highly recommend reading. In English, make sure to buy the New and Expanded Edition. There is also En El Jardin de la Foi in French!
